IBEW Local 503 Youth Caucus Letter
Dear Brothers and Sisters, We all know that we go to work every day in a safe environment with fair labor practices, we earn good wages and have good benefits, but I don't think that we stop to remember why we have all this. Your union is the reason that you have all these things. Many of us think that we do our part as a union member by paying dues and by making it to some meetings. While these are all important, it is even more important that we remember that this union belongs to all of us and it is the responsibility of all of us to ensure that we work together to maintain it and keep it strong. The IBEW RENEW (Reach out and Engage New generation Electrical Workers) Program is geared towards getting our members 39 years of age and younger involved in the union. The goal of this program is for younger members to learn the values from past and present leaders and for them to get involved and help put a positive perception of union in our community.Local 503 is organizing our own RENEW program and would like members 39 and younger to join up and become involved in learning about the issues that our union faces. We also need you to help build relations in the community by doing volunteer work that helps to show the IBEW in a positive light. The RENEW program is important to all of us, buy especially to our younger members. The time to learn and take the interest is now while there are leaders who can teach you how to keep this union strong and help you maintain the strength of this union well into the future because you are our future leaders.
