crews unsung heroes
Thank-you note to linemen and women and the plow:
Does anyone remember the storm of April 1, I believe it was 1996? Mother Nature played a good April Fools' joke that day: The worst snowstorm in the history of this area, bigger than this past one, trees down everywhere. Well, our electric company linemen sure didn't forget. They did an amazing job — how soon we forget. We heard some folks complaing last week. Are you kidding me? Did you step outside at night during the blizzard and cold? Think about what it's like working for hours in that. The troops in the yellow trucks are "our" heroes. Other heroes are the big town plow truck drivers. While we're home under the warm covers, the sound of that plow truck going by is so comforting, knowing we won't be stranded, and our loved ones on the road are a lot safer. I've often followed a truck home after getting caught out in a storm. Plows, sand and salt — they're worth more than gold when you're on that icy road. Does anyone realize how many lives these people save? Are we happy with our town taxes and our new electric bill? Heck no! This has nothing to do with them. So to our unsung heroes, linemen, plow guys, thanks so much. Keep up the good work. See you on the trail.
