An Update on Steve

Since his accident on June 26, Steve Altieri, Line Technician 1st Class HV, remains at St. Barnabus Medical Center where he continues to undergo multiple surgeries and prepare for his rehabilitation. Steve suffered life-changing injuries when he came in contact with a primary conductor while working on a job in Ramsey, N.J.
He has begun to visit with small groups of people. “This kid is unbelievable,” said Steve McCready, Manager – Eastern Overhead Electric Operations, who visited Steve for several hours a few weeks ago. “He is so positive. I was riveted by his focus and upbeat presence. For a young man, only 26, I always found him to be polite, respectful and personable. He appreciated his job and had a strong work ethic. And that hasn’t changed. He talked excitedly about returning to work.”
That sentiment has been echoed by others who have visited him. Visitors included O&R CEO and President Bill Longhi, Vice President of Operations Jim Tarpey, President and Business Manager of IBEW Local 503 Brian W. Scott, in addition to friends and fellow co-workers. “Steve said he was so appreciative of all the support and friendship he has received from his colleagues at O&R,” Steve McCready added.
“Since the accident, I have been in touch with Steve and his family on a regular basis,” said Brian Scott. “His fortitude and determination to get well are amazing. The members of IBEW Local 503 have been extremely supportive of Steve and his young family.”
A “Score for Steve Altieri” Golf Tournament is planned for Oct. 7 to benefit Steve and his family, which includes his wife Lisa and his 3-month-old son Anthony.
